With the year drawing to a close, it is a time when many of us start looking ahead to the future. Furthermore, with the weather being so cold at the moment, it is totally understandable that some of us even turn our attentions to making plans for a break in the summer sun.

Britons have so many options in terms of holidays these days, but recent research has perhaps provided some hints as to where people may be heading to for a good-value break in the coming months.

Top value

A new study by flight comparison website Skyscanner was recently covered by The Sun and it revealed that both Malaga and Tenerife are among the best value destinations for 2020 in terms of the cost of flights.

Remarkably, it demonstrated that the cost of booking to fly to the locations has actually dropped by around 44 per cent when compared to the same period 12 months ago. This means that the cost of flying to Malaga has dropped from an average of £281 to £158. In contrast, flying to Tenerife now costs £223 compared to the previous figure of £402.

Such results are undoubtedly eye opening and may perhaps lead to an increase in interest in these destinations across the coming months.

More than just sun

Both Tenerife and Malaga are renowned as hotspots for people who want a break at the beach, but that does not necessarily mean that only those seeking to laze on a sunbed should be taking advantage of such deals. After all, when it comes to Malaga in particular, there is a lot more to the area than simply sand and sea.

The city and the surrounding Costa del Sol are jam packed with a range of family-friendly activities like the Bioparc Fuengirola, while a study released earlier this year also put Malaga ahead of both Prague and Tokyo as the most women-friendly travel destination in the world for 2019. The location also boasts its fair share of fascinating heritage and culture too, including the medieval palace of Alcazaba, the city’s famous cathedral and an entire museum dedicated to the work of the legendary Malaga-born artist Pablo Picasso.

In addition, the city’s position on the Spanish mainland means that visitors have the option to consider Malaga car hire services from its airport to venture further afield and explore other intriguing nearby areas. Granada is around 90 minutes away, while the capital of the Andalusia region Seville is a two-hour car journey.

Holiday Hotspots

Spain has been a holiday hotspot for people in the UK for a number of years and, with the prices for flights to Tenerife and Malaga being such good value at the moment, the chances are that this will remain the case for some time to come.

Such trends certainly put a spotlight on what the locations have to offer and it will be particularly intriguing to see if those seeking a fresh perspective on southern Spain take advantage of the value of the deals currently available.
