The real reason for Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold’s alleged bust-up behind the scenes in training for Liverpool has been revealed.

The duo, arguably Liverpool’s two most important players, appeared to clash on Monday at the club’s training centre ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League second leg last-16 clash against Paris-Saint Germain.

Salah and Alexander-Arnold had to be pulled apart by Harvey Elliott and Ibrahima Konate, which sparked a series of rumours across social media after an online video from Hayters TV went viral.

Alexander-Arnold looked visibly irritated during what seemed to be a heated incident, clapping his hands and gesturing towards his teammate.

It forced a reaction out of Salah, who approached Alexander-Arnold and pushed him before the Englishman moved back in the Egyptian’s direction.

That’s when Konate stepped in – putting his arm around Alexander-Arnold to diffuse the situation – while Elliott was also seen holding Salah back.

The alleged fall-out left Liverpool supporters concerned that Salah and Alexander-Arnold’s relationship had turned dramatically sour.

Fans can now chill out, though, after the Liverpool Echo revealed that the reason behind Salah and Alexander-Arnold’s bust-up was simply ‘light-hearted ribbing’, having discussed the viral video with sources at Anfield.

The outlet claims that Salah and Alexander-Arnold were joking around together following the training session, with the incident firmly put to bed.

Salah and Alexander-Arnold, who are both out of contract at the end of the current season, have helped Liverpool win a number of trophies together.

During their respective spells at Liverpool, the Reds have clinched the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, two Carabao Cups, the Club World Cup and Super Cup.

The pair have always spoken incredibly highly of each other with Alexander-Arnold lauding Salah after the recent victory over Southampton.

‘He’s a game-winner for us,’ Alexander-Arnold said about Salah after Liverpool beat the Saints 3-1 in the top-flight on Saturday. ‘He’s the type of player you need to be successful and win this league.’

Liverpool’s superstar winger Salah, who has sparked speculation over his future on several occasions this season, has registered an incredible 243 goals and 110 assists across 390 games for the club to date.

Reds right-back Alexander-Arnold, meanwhile, who has been linked with a move to Real Madrid this term, has conjured up 22 goals and 87 assists in 348 matches having progressed through the Liverpool academy.

Salah and Alexander-Arnold are hoping to help Liverpool get the job done against PSG at Anfield tonight (Tuesday, March 11) and reach the Champions League quarter-finals having won the first leg 1-0 last week.

Liverpool could register a number of trophies this term in Arne Slot’s first season as head coach, with the Reds in Carabao Cup final action against Newcastle United at Wembley on Sunday.

Liverpool look to have the Premier League title wrapped up too with Slot’s men 15 points clear of second-placed Arsenal.
