Mohamed Salah has put an end to the uncertainty over his future by signing a new two-year contract at Liverpool.
The Egyptian’s previous deal had been due to expire in the summer and there were fears he could be heading towards the exit door at Anfield, along with Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is expected to join Real Madrid.
Throughout the course of the season, Salah, Liverpool’s third-highest goalscorer in history behind Ian Rush and Roger Hunt, has dropped a number of hints that his time on Merseyside could be coming to an end.
The Saudi Pro League has long been mooted as a possible destination for Salah, but the 32-year-old has instead decided to continue his incredible legacy with the Reds for at least another two years.
‘Of course I’m very excited. We have a great team now,’ Salah told the club’s official website.

‘Before also we had a great team. But I signed because I think we have a chance to win other trophies and enjoy my football.
‘It’s great, I had my best years here. I played eight years, hopefully it’s going to be ten.’

Salah urged Liverpool fans to ‘keep supporting’ the team over the coming weeks, months and years, with the talismanic forward on course to add a second Premier League crown to his collection this season.
‘I’m enjoying my life here, enjoying my football. I had the best years in my career,’ he added.
‘I would like to say to [the fans], I am very, very happy to be here. I signed here because I believe we can win a lot of big trophies together.
‘Keep supporting us and we’ll give it our best, and hopefully in the future we’re going to win more trophies.’
