Make gingerbread lattes with easy festive coffee recipe that's perfect for Christmas

Christmas is finally almost here, and if you’re preparing to host, you’ll no doubt have a long list of tasks to complete before your guests arrive for lunch.

And with so much to do later on in the day, your morning caffeine fix has never been more important.

But rather than grabbing a quick cup of tea, why not take the time to indulge in a sweet treat before the day gets properly underway?

After all, there’s no better way to get into the festive spirit than with a warming winter coffee with a twist.

Coffee expert Jonny England, from Lofbergs, has shared the recipe for a tasty gingerbread latte that can be made in minutes at home.

Here’s everything you’ll need to make one serving.

Gingerbread latte

Ingredients

100ml freshly brewed coffee

½ tsp ground ginger

¼ tsp cinnamon

Pinch of ground nutmeg

¼ tsp vanilla extract

300ml whole milk

Whipped cream

Method

First, brew 100ml of coffee and pour into a tall glass or large mug.

In a bowl, combine the spices, sugar, and vanilla extract.

In a pan alongside the sugar and spice mix, heat 75ml of the milk and whisk until the sugar has dissolved. Gently whisk in the remaining milk in 50ml portions until mixed well, then heat through until steaming.

Add the spiced milk to your coffee and top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of ground ginger. Enjoy!

If you’re after something even sweeter, Jonny also shared an easy two-step recipe to make a peppermint mocha.

Here’s what you’ll need to make one serving.

Peppermint mocha

Ingredients

175ml milk

175ml brewed espresso or strong coffee

2 tbsp sugar

1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder

¼ tsp mint extract or ½ tsp peppermint syrup

¼ tsp vanilla extract

Whipped cream

Method

In a small saucepan, add the milk, cocoa powder, and sugar. Heat over a medium heat until small bubbles begin to form around the edge and the sugar has dissolved.

Stir in the espresso or coffee, mint extract, and vanilla extract. Remove from the heat and serve in a large mug or heatproof glass and top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.
