Chelsea have no plans to sign a new goalkeeper in the summer transfer window despite the inconsistent performances of both Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen.
Sanchez established himself as Chelsea’s number one under Enzo Maresca at the start of the season, holding off competition from Djordje Petrovic, who was sent to partner club Strasbourg on loan.
However, the Spaniard came under fire repeatedly for a number of high-profile errors during the first half of the season.
Maresca, himself, was critical of Sanchez’s levels of performance in January and eventually took the 27-year-old out of the firing line in place of Jorgensen earlier this month.
Jorgensen, who signed in the summer from Villarreal, has since been given a chance to replace Sanchez having previously been limited to appearances in cup competitions.

But, it’s proven a difficult start for Jorgensen, with the young Dane facing strong criticism for mistakes he made against Brighton and Aston Villa.
Given the inconsistencies of Sanchez and Jorgensen in between the posts, pundits and fans alike have urged the Blues to dip back into the market for another shotstopper.
But despite those calls, widespread reports suggest that Chelsea are unlikely to sign a new keeper when the transfer window reopens in the summer.
The club are happy for both keepers to continue competiting for the first-choice berth and also have several other options returning from loan in the summer.
Petrovic, who played 31 times under Mauricio Pochettino last season, has impressed on loan in France and could return to Stamford Bridge to try and reclaim the number-one jersey.
Kepa Arrizabalaga is also expected to return from his loan spell at Bournemouth at the end of the season, but the Spaniard’s long-term future at Chelsea is far more uncertain given he has now spent the last two seasons away from the club on loan.
Chelsea could also give an opportunity to 19-year-old Mike Penders who was signed last summer from Genk but has remained with the Belgian side on loan this campaign.
Penders is seen by the club as a player with great potential and has been capped seven times for Belgium’s under-19 team, but has played just eight league games for Genk this season.
In the meantime, Chelsea are likely set to persist with Jorgensen when they return to action in the Conference League against Copenhagen.
