Anambra FRSC Advocates Road Safety Collaboration

The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Anambra State, Corps Commander Joyce N. Alexander, in a remarkable effort towards enhancing road safety, affirmed the importance of collaboration with various stakeholders.

“To foster this partnership, the FRSC actively engages in public enlightenment initiatives through diverse channels and collaborates closely with community leaders, particularly traditional rulers,” she stated.

Commander Alexander made these remarks during a courtesy visit to His Royal Majesty, Igwe A.V. Achebe, the Obi of Onitsha, on Friday.

In the meeting, Commander Alexander expressed her appreciation for the warm welcome she received and extended her gratitude to the Igwe for his ongoing support of the FRSC’s mission in Anambra State.

She reiterated the FRSC’s commitment to reducing road traffic crashes and cultivating a safer motoring environment.

As part of the upcoming initiatives, Commander Alexander announced that the theme for the 2024 Ember Months Safety Campaign will be: “Speak Up Against Dangerous Driving: Crashes Kill More Passengers than Drivers.”

She encouraged the Igwe to champion road safety advocacy within his community, emphasizing the role of local leaders in driving awareness.

In response, His Royal Majesty warmly welcomed the Sector Commander on behalf of the Onitsha community and acknowledged her position as the 15th Sector Commander of the FRSC in Anambra State.

He shared insights from his experiences with the FRSC and advocated for enhanced public education tailored to drivers, particularly focusing on fleet operators, to promote accountability for unsafe practices on the roads.

The Igwe pledged his unwavering support for the FRSC activities in Anambra and informed Commander Alexander of scheduled meetings with traditional leaders to provide her a platform to address them on road safety matters.

He wished the sector commander a fruitful and transformative tenure that would benefit the people of Anambra State.
