Luke Humphries has earned a reputation as a class act and he’s proved his kindness again by inviting a teenager who’s been bullied at school to Premier League Darts in Manchester
Luke Humphries underlined his status as a class act by offering to organise a VIP backstage meeting with Premier League players for an autistic teenager bullied at school.
The world No.1 was horrified to learn of Alex McGarrie’s ordeal at Hazel Grove High School in Stockport. And when the Premier League circus comes to Manchester’s AO Arena on April 10, Humphries is planning a meet-and-greet session with superstar Luke Littler and other top 10 players to support the 14-year-old and make a stand against bullying.
Cool Hand Luke is planning talks with the Professional Darts Corporation to organise a treat for Alex, who is an avid darts fan. Humphries posted on social media: “I will speak to the PDC this week when we’re in Cardiff and see if we can get him some tickets and a chance to meet all the players in Manchester if that suits? No one likes a bully, hope he’s OK and send him my best wishes [thumbs up emoji].”
Humphries’ gesture is typical of his amiable nature and his gift for using darts as a force for good. The former world champion was at the forefront of raising more than £2million for prostate cancer charities at the last two Paddy Power PDC World Championship tournaments at Alexandra Palace through the number of 180 maximums thrown.

And he has made a flying start to the 2025 Premier League season, leading the race for May’s play-offs with Littler in the table with a golden bonus.
Earlier this month, he became the first player to win a set of 18-carat gold arrows, offered by the tournament’s headline sponsors BetMGM for hitting a nine-darter, and on the same night in Brighton another ex-world champion, Rob Cross, followed suit.
Littler took over at the top of the league after knocking Humphries out of last week’s meeting in Nottingham at the first hurdle. Luke the Nuke went on to reach the final, where he suffered a sixth consecutive defeat by bogeyman Gerwyn Price.

The pair are on another potential collision course at this week’s meeting in Cardiff, where the ‘Iceman’ will enjoy the support of a partisan Welsh crowd.
Supporters praised Humphries’ gesture, with one saying: “Class act, total respect. That’s exactly how a world No.1 should be: an inspiration.”
Another hailed: “You are a fantastic player and a class act, keep it up.” A third said: “You are an absolute gent.”
“One of the classiest guys in darts,” a fourth added.
