Clothes will be crease-free without an iron if you add 1 household item to the dryer

It’s not uncommon to find cleaning satisfying. There’s something rewarding about a clutter-free and fresh home, but having said that, there are some chores which are more challening than others.

And one of these is ironing. This is a job which can take hours, but it’s often necessary if you want your clothes to look tidy and presentable. However, according to one cleaning expert on social media, you can achieve this without even switching the iron on – and instead by making one change to your drying routine.

Cleaning influencer Chantel, also known as @mama_mila_ on TikTok, has racked up over one million followers on the video-sharing app thanks to her simple cleaning and organisational tips.

In a bid to help people simplify their cleaning and laundry routines, she has suggested an ingenius tip that’ll banish those annoying wrinkles from your clothes without having to set up the dreaded ironing board.

And it involves using something that you’ve probably already got at home.

In one of her videos, she said all you need to do to get rid of wrinkled clothes is to put a block of ice in the tumble dryer with your load of laundry.

Chantel clarified that doing this creates steam in the machine, and helps to remove wrinkles like an iron would.

This tip works the best when the clothes are already dry, so if you wake up in the morning to pick an outfit only to find it’s gone all wrinkled, then it’s the ideal quick fix.

According to the pros at Good Housekeeping, all you need to do is put the clothing into the dryer for 10 minutes with a couple of ice cubes.

They said: “The cubes will melt, creating moisture and a steam-like effect that will zap creases and leave clothes wrinkle-free.”

However, if you’ve not got any ice then don’t worry. You can create a similar effect by popping in a damp washcloth instead, and just 10 minutes later, you’ll have perfectly fresh clothes without even having to switch the iron on.
