Liverpool 2 Real Madrid 0: Mac Allister and Gakpo in huge win to stay top of Champions League table with perfect record

ALEXIS MAC ALLISTER and Cody Gakpo fired Liverpool to a 2-0 win over Real Madrid as Kylian Mbappe and Mo Salah both missed penalties.

Arne Slot’s men took the lead with a well-worked move seven minutes into the second half, Conor Bradley laying it off for Mac Allister who composed himself and rolled in to break the deadlock.

The visitors had a superb opportunity to level on the hour mark when Lucas Vazquez was fouled in the box by Andy Robertson and Real Madrid were awarded a penalty.

But Mbappe’s tame spot kick was saved by Caoimhin Kelleher much to the delight of the Anfield crowd.

Liverpool then earned a penalty of their own when Ferland Mendy sent Salah tumbling, only for the Egyptian to thump wide of the left-hand post.

But Cody Gakpo made sure of the points with 14 minutes remaining when he headed powerfully beyond Thibaut Courtois.
